Welcome to Year Three's Web Page!

April  2018

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Welcome to the Summer term. I hope you have had a restful Easter break and are ready for the final part of the year.

Our topics this term will be Minibeasts and Musical Inspiration. The science based topic will involve exploring the school grounds searching for and classifying mini beasts using identification keys and looking at their habitats.

In Maths, as well as continuing to learn the times tables ,there will be a heavy focus on Fractions, which will include, comparing, ordering and adding fractions with the same denominator and finding equivalent fractions. We will also be working on handling data, money and measures including capacity.

In English, we will be reading, writing and performing poetry and play scripts. We will also be developing story writing and report writing skills. Spellings will continue to be set on Tuesdays to be tested the following week. Please encourage your child to make sure they have the Home Spelling Book in school on Tuesdays and that they learn a few spellings each day. Your child will also continue to read in school on the allocated day.

PE lessons will take place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Please ensure your child’s indoor and outdoor PE kit is in school and also named.

This term, Year3 will also attend swimming lessons on Friday mornings. We will leave school at 10:30am and expect to return by 12 O’Clock. Please see the Swimming letter your child has brought home for further information.

Home learning will continue to be set on Thursday to be completed and returned on Monday. Please encourage your child to hand it in on time and to complete it with care.

Thank you in advance for your continued support and if you have any queries please come and speak to myself or Mrs Leigh, preferably by appointment.

Kind Regards,

Mrs.Ashraf                                   Mrs Webster
