Welcome to Year Three's Web Page!

January 2019

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Happy New Year and welcome back. I hope you have had a happy and peaceful Christmas break and thank you also for the lovely Christmas gifts.

Our topic for this half term is Cool Scientists followed by Africa next half term. The Science topic will involve finding out about famous scientists and their contributions, alongside developing scientific skills such as making careful observations, questioning, searching for information and using evidence to answer questions.

This half term, our Maths will include angles, shape, time and multiplying and dividing using formal calculation methods and applying our understanding and knowledge to problem solving activities. It would be very helpful, if you could reinforce telling the time to O,clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to, on both analogue and digital clocks. In English we will be looking at biography and science fiction text. Spellings will continue to be set on Tuesdays to be tested the following week. Please encourage your child to learn the spellings, read daily and practice their 3, 4, 5 and 8 times tables regularly.

PE lessons will take place on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of each week. Please check that all PE kit is labelled with your child’s name.

Home learning will continue to be set on Thursday to be completed and returned on Monday. Please encourage your child to hand it in on time and to complete it with care.

We have a busy and hopefully a productive term ahead of us. The children are already busy learning the dances and the songs for the KS 2 production ‘Porridge’, which will be performed at the end of this half term.

If you have any concerns or queries, please come and talk to myself or Mrs Ferguson.  Mrs. Leigh is also available, preferably by appointment.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Kind Regards,

Mrs Ashraf  (Year 3  teacher)

Mrs Ferguson  (Year 3/4 TA)
